Latest information regarding impacts of downtown Davenport levee breach

DAVENPORT, Iowa (NEWS3) – The Davenport Public Works department has released the latest information regarding the effects of the temporary levee failure in the downtown on Tuesday.

Individuals who are impacted by the levee breach or wish to evacuate are currently being assisted with the evacuation and sheltering.

Those in need of assistance in evacuating from the downtown should call 9-1-1. The Scott County Emergency Management Agency is working with the American Red Cross for transportation and relocation efforts.

The following are impacts on traffic caused by flooding:

  • The Iowa bound Centennial Bridge will be reduced to one lane when exiting. Barriers are being installed on each side of the bridge to ensure it remains open
  • Traffic from the Rock Island Arsenal via the Government Bridge should use the Moline gate and viaduct as 2nd Street is no longer accessible
  • Access to all streets between Main and Iowa Streets south of 2nd Street is restricted to city vehicles only.
  • 2nd Street is now closed to through traffic between Division and Iowa Streets.
