WATCH: McDonough County Health Department holds news conference on El Rancherito closure

MACOMB, Illinois (NEWS3) – The McDonough County Health Department held a news conference Thursday following the closure of El Rancherito.

Environmental Health Director Chris Adams said the restaurant’s license was revoked after multiple health violations were discovered.

“We found several containers of food in the temperature dangers zone that had previously the day before and that were still being used on the front line,” Adams said.

Some food items were also not dated correctly. Some food had been cooked days earlier, but were marked under the date of the actual health inspection.

The owner of the restaurant could appeal to the McDonough County Board of Health.

Right now, the restaurant could only reopen under a new owner.

NOTE: While the video states the news conference took place on Tuesday, it actually took place on Thursday, April 25. We regret our error.
