Macomb police investigating after one person found dead on northwest side

MACOMB, Illinois (NEWS) — Macomb police are investigating after one person was found dead on the city’s northwest side.

According to the Macomb Police Department, officers were dispatched to a home near Chandler Boulevard and Murray Street at 8:51 a.m. Friday.

A neighbor reported to the owner of the residence that a female was seen walking on the property Thursday night.

The owner requested that officers conduct a search of the residence. No forced entry was found.

Inside the home, officers found a 24-year-old female that appeared to have died from a gunshot wound.

The woman’s identity is being withheld pending notification of family.

The preliminary investigation has revealed no apparent evidence indicating any criminal activity occurred, according to police.

Eyewitnesses reported a large police presence near the home on Friday.
