One dead after crash involving stolen vehicle in Moline

MOLINE, Illinois (NEWS3) – One person was killed in a crash involving a stolen vehicle Wednesday in Moline.

According to the Moline Police Department, officers were advised by the East Moline Police Department that a vehicle stolen out of Cedar County, Iowa was travelling recklessly at a high rate of speed and was entering Moline.

Officers were unable to attempt a traffic stop and lost sight of the vehicle.

An officer later witnessed the vehicle travelling on the westbound John Deere Expressway when it collided with a Ford Escape travelling northbound on 16th Street.

The two occupants of the Ford Escape were transported to the hospital where  51-year-old Tammy Wade-Loos of Milan, Illinois died from her injuries.

The occupants of the stolen vehicle fled the scene on foot.

A 27-year-old female suspect was apprehended on scene.

A 24-year-old male was apprehended by an off-duty Rock Island officer two blocks away and a 25-year-old male was apprehended three blocks from the crash.

Charges were filed against the suspects on Friday.
