At 8:06 a.m., the company tweeted that customers may have an issue with the bank’s online banking or mobile app service.
At 9:05 a.m., the company tweeted “We’re experiencing a systems issue that is causing intermittent outages, and we’re working to restore services as soon as possible.”

At 11:44 a.m., Wells Fargo said the system outage was caused by a “power shutdown” at one of the company’s facilities. The shutdown was initiated after smoke was detected following routine maintenance.
