Former Leatherneck football player receives invite to NFL scouting combine

MACOMB, Illinois (NEWS3) – Defensive lineman and Western Illinois University alumni Khalen Saunders has received an invite to the NFL scouting combine.

The NFL scouting combine showcases skills such as speed and explosiveness of some of the best college football players to NFL scouts.

Saunders is the only Leatherneck this season to receive an invite to the scouting combine.

During Saunders’ senior season, the former Leatherneck recorded 6.5 sacks, and a career high in both tackle for losses with 13 and total tackles with 72.

Saunders is also the first Leatherneck ever to compete against some of the nation’s top draft prospects in the Reese’s Senior Bowl.

The NFL scouting combine will be held in Indianapolis at Lucas Oil Stadium from Feb. 26 to March 4.

The NFL Network will be broadcasting the on-field workouts March 1-4 with March 3 being the workout day for defensive lineman and linebackers.
