Ice may cause problems for Tuesday evening, Wednesday morning commutes

WESTERN ILLINOIS (NEWS3) – Freezing rain and sleet, leading to ice accumulations, may cause problems for the Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning commutes.

A 1/4″ – 1/2″ of ice is possible across eastern Iowa and western Illinois, with less accumulation as you head further southeast.

The event will arrive in western Illinois between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m., just in time for the evening commute, and will continue until early Wednesday morning.

Power outages are also a concern as highs winds are expected along with this event.

An ICE STORM WARNING is in effect for western Illinois from 12 noon on Tuesday until 6 a.m. Wednesday.
