MOLINE, Illinois (NEWS3) — The Quad Cities broke its all-time coldest temperature as dangerous temperatures settled across much of the Midwest.
At approximately 3 a.m. Thursday the coldest temperature was recorded since records were kept in the 1800s.
The new record set Thursday is -33°F. The existing record of -27°F, set in 1996, was actually first broke Wednesday evening with a temperature of -28°F, now the second coldest day.
These are actual temperatures, wind chills were as low as 50-55 below zero.
