WESTERN ILLINOIS (NEWS3) – No hype. No exaggeration. Wind chills Wednesday into Thursday WILL BE life-threatening.
Wednesday morning, many woke up to wind chills around -45.
Temperatures Wednesday will reach a high of -5 and wind chills will remain around -25 or below.
Temperatures will fall again Wednesday night with a low of -17 and wind chills will stay around the 25 below mark.
A WIND CHILL WARNING will be in effect for all of western Illinois until 10 a.m. on Thursday.
Frostbite will occur in FIVE MINUTES OR LESS.
Temperatures on Thursday will reach the low to mid teens ABOVE zero; however, wind chills will remain in the single digits below zero for much of the day.
Highs will continue to climb to finish out the week with temperatures reaching the upper 40 to lower 50s for the weekend.
