Lyneir Cole to step down from Western Illinois Board of Trustees

WESTERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY, Macomb (NEWS3)- Lyneir Cole announced via social media Friday that he will be stepping down from the Western Illinois University Board of Trustees.

Cole cites a policy that an employee of the state cannot be appointed to a state board.

“The last seven years have been great in working to assure WIU is viable,” Cole wrote on Facebook.

According to Western Illinois University, Cole is a 1987 graduate of the school in Law Enforcement Administration (now known as Law Enforcement and Justice Administration).

Cole has served on the WIU Alumni Council for six years, has been President of the Black Alumni Committee for nine years and also served on the Advisory Board for the College of Education and Human Services for six years

Cole says he will step down at the next Board of Trustees meeting on Friday, Dec. 14.
