Thousands of Ameren customers without power due to blizzard

WESTERN ILLINOIS (NEWS3) — Thousands of Ameren customers across western Illinois are without power as a result of a massive blizzard moving across the area.

As of 11:45 p.m. Sunday night, over 21,000 customers were without power.

High winds and heavy snow is likely to blame for the outages.

According to multiple emergency management agencies, Ameren says it may take up to six hours or more to restore power.
