ISP: Every road in western Illinois ‘impassable’

MACOMB, Illinois (NEWS3) — Due to the dangerous conditions, Illinois State Police District 14 at Macomb is now advising motorists what to do if stuck with no help available.

The office says that troopers are unable to travel in their squad cars and are travelling in IDOT trucks.

They say if stuck, call 911 and a nearby truck will try to reach that location; however, due to the conditions, they are warning motorists may not be rescued until morning.

If  stuck and no help arrives, state police say a car can idle up to 20 hours on a full tank. If the tank is not full, motorists should run the engine intermittently, BUT make sure snow does not build up around the exhaust.
