Retired Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor revealed Tuesday she has dementia.
In a letter, the 88-year-old revealed she’s been diagnosed with the beginning stages of dementia and probably Alzheimer’s disease.
“While the final chapter of my life with dementia may be trying, nothing has diminished my gratitude and deep appreciation for the countless blessings of my life,” she wrote.
O’Connor was nominated to the bench by President Ronald Reagan in 1981.
Becoming the first female Supreme Court justice of the United States.
She left in 2006 to care for her husband who was battling Alzheimer’s.
O’Connor plans to continue living in phoenix with her family.
