The following is a news release from Western Illinois Jniregarding the 2018-19 schedule for the men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams:
“Following a fourth and fifth place finish, respectively, at The Summit League Championships last season, the Western Illinois men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams announced their 2018-19 slate.
The Leathernecks begin the campaign at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 28 with the Purple & Gold/Alumni Meet from Brophy Hall in Macomb. The regular season begins on Oct. 13 in Cedar Falls, Iowa, where Western Illinois participates in a dual meet with Northern Iowa, Valparaiso and South Dakota State. The Leathernecks compete at IUPUI one week later.
The Western Illinois women will square off at Brophy Hall in a dual meet with Omaha at 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 2, the program’s first home meet of the season. That will help prep the Purple & Gold for the House of Champions, which takes place from Nov. 16-18 in Indianapolis.
On Dec. 1, the Leatherneck swim teams will compete at Truman State. It will be their last meet of the 2018 calendar year.
Western Illinois kicks off 2019 with two home meets from Brophy Hall. On Jan. 11, South Dakota and Saint Louis come to Macomb for a 6 p.m. meet. The Coyotes and Eastern Illinois battle the Leathernecks the next day for an 11 a.m. dual meet inside of Brophy Hall.
The Leathernecks conclude the regular year with three road meets. They will compete at Olivet Nazarene on Jan. 19, the Butler Invite from Fishers, Ind., on Jan. 27 and Iowa on Feb. 1. The Summit League Championships will be held from Feb. 20-23 in Sioux Falls, S.D.”
