MACOMB, IL — Eighteen-year-old, Natalie Mota is currently a freshman at Western Illinois University. Recently, she noticed an uncommon lump in her throat while at school. She went home for fall break and had a biopsy performed on her. Within the following week, Mota was diagnosed with lymphoma.
Lymphoma is a type of cancer that affects your immune system and white blood cells. Unfortunately it can happen to anyone at anytime, but it is more common among young people.
Destiny Deal, a sister and member of Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority at Western Illinois University has created a GoFundMe page to support Natalie and her family. The Alpha Epsilon chapter’s starting goal is to raise twenty-five hundred dollars.
Within the first four days, the campaign has already raised funds over over $2,200 through Western Illinois students, family, and friends.
Natalie currently is a law enforcement major and hopes to follow an occupation in policing. She has currently left school temporarily in order to undergo treatment and radiation.
