MACOMB, IL – Macomb police arrested several men from Burlington for Unlawful Use of a Weapon and related charges.
Officers noticed a van making illegal lane changes while driving in Macomb. When they pulled the vehicle over, they immediately noticed suspicious activity by the people in the van. Officers also smelled contraband inside. Macomb K9 unit Landres was brought to search the vehicle.
The Macomb police department says they found 3 guns hidden in the van. All guns were loaded, and one gun had a high capacity magazine in it. It was later discovered that one of the guns was stolen from Indiana.
In the State of Illinois, it is illegal:
- to have a gun where it is readily available to the vehicle’s occupants
- to have a loaded gun anywhere in a vehicle
- for felons to own or use guns
As a result, the Macomb police say they arrested the men in the vehicle on multiple charges.
A juvenile, age 17 (not pictured), was also in the vehicle. He was charged with possession of a stolen firearm, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, and unlawful use of a weapon.
