It’s less than two weeks away from election day and McDonough County is preparing by checking all different methods of casting ballots.
McDonough County Clerk Gretchen DeJaynes showed NEWS3 how the county is testing the machines and preparing for November 8th.
“The touch screen ballot is in test mode, which is how we go about testing ballots. The first thing is the constitutional question which happens to be on two pages on this touch screen machine. Â To vote you touch the screen but if you change your mind you just touch the screen again,” explains DeJaynes.
DeJaynes says that each precinct has one touch screen ballot and is capable to help the impaired, as well. For those who don’t want to use the touch screen ballot or if the line is too long you can use the written ballots.
This is the first year residents can register to vote on election day. Â DeJaynes recommends registering before November 8th because the line could be long.
You can register at the McDonough County Court House which is located on the square in Macomb.
