The election is a little more than a week away and organizations in McDonough County and Western Illinois University have been working to get students and the community registered to vote.
The McDonough County League of Women Voters has been in numerous places around the county for people to have access to register.
The President of the McDonough County League of Women Voters Sara Boeckelman says, by not voting people are actually making a choice and that choice is to let everyone else decide for them. She says peoples’ best option is to look at what is available and choose the person that they think is going to do the most for them.
As a cabinet member for the Student Government Association, Joe Reinert organized a voter registration table at the Student Union.
Reinert says students should really be able to vote and we just want to provide that opportunity for all our students.
People are able to vote and register at the Macomb courthouse from now to Election day. There will also be early voting at the University Union. It will take place starting November 1.
