This week’s drought monitor for the midwest

We saw improvement in the drought conditions from last week in the state of Illinois. Southern Illinois is the only area that saw change as they were removed from the Abnormally Dry Category. Western Illinois saw visually no change as Hancock County and Western McDonough County remain in Moderate Drought (D1 Category). Areas across Fulton and Warren Counties are still also experiencing Moderate Drought conditions. This drought measurement was taken on July 5. It was taken before all the recent rains that were received across West Central Illinois. The next drought monitor should show decent improvement next week. For more information on what the drought conditions were last week, please refer to last week’s drought monitor listed below this map.
