Macomb police say it was a routine checkup where doctors saw signs of child abuse on a 6 month old infant. The child is now in a Peoria hospital.
The mother, 21 year old Tiffany Sturek, is being charged with 2 counts of aggravated domestic battery. Sturek is being held on a $250,000 bond.
Police say they found fresh and old injuries on the baby.
DCFS contacted Macomb police after the baby’s doctor’s visit last Tuesday.
McDonough District Hospital is helping with the investigation.
