WIU President Jack Thomas will be bringing a “university administrator’s perspective” to the Illinois Board of Higher Education.
According to a press release from the office of Gov. Bruce Rauner, Thomas will be serving as a board member.
Thomas says he is honored to be appointed and “look(s) forward to addressing the issues facing higher education in the state of Illinois.”
“It is exciting to be a part of the higher education community as we work to prepare students for success in a global society.” Thomas said.
Thomas is WIU’s 11th president; During his tenure, the university has been named a “Best Midwestern College” and “Best Regional University” by the Princeton Review and U.S. News and World Report, respectively.
