WIU’s Student Government Association sends a big university issue to facilities management.
At Tuesday night’s SGA meeting there was a big debate over adding disability accessible doors to the three Freshman residence halls.
Most Freshmen with disabilities get housed in Lincoln, Washington, or Caroline Grote because the Freshman residence halls are inaccessible for them.
The bill’s co-author says this then removes them from getting the entire Freshman experience.
SGA members expressed their concerns and passed the bill to get it put on the facilities management’s list of things to do.
They hope it gets done during winter break.
