The Illinois budget stalemate is now affecting the Department of Motor Vehicles.

Secretary of State Jesse White’s Office announced it will no longer be mailing out notices when a vehicle owner’s registration needs to be renewed.

According to Illinois Policy, the state estimates the suspended reminders will save roughly $450,000 per month.

The Secretary of State estimates this will allow the department to continue mailing out vehicle registration stickers into early next year.
