Park District Superintendent Rachel Lenz says she discovered the U.S. Quidditch League on YouTube and applied to host the tournament shortly thereafter.

Macomb was selected over runner-up Ames, Iowa after an extensive certification process.

Nikki Gray of the Convention and Visitor’s Bureau says the event is expected to generate nearly $350,000 in tourism revenue for the city.

While participation in the tournament is limited to teams that are registered with the league, Macomb residents are encouraged to come watch for free.

Matches will take place throughout the day on November 21st and 22nd.
