The Humane Society of McDonough County wrapped up its much-anticipated Brix-Lindahl Challenge this month, and they’re calling it a huge success.

Like last year’s fundraiser, donations made during the month of October were matched up to $1,000 by HSMC supporter Chris Brix.

But this year, fellow animal-lovers Tate and Sharon Lindahl doubled down and matched up to that same amount.

Patti Nemec is with the HSMC. She said fundraisers like this one are crucial to the efforts of the humane society, since they operate solely on donations.

The HSMC reported that the challenge raised over $10,000 this year. Nemec said that money will be used directly for initiatives like spay-neuter programs, as well as foster and adoption programs.
