The City of Macomb applied for a one–million dollar loan from the Illinois Environment Protection Agency to complete an improvement project. Talk of splitting the project into two phases is the current topic being discussed amongst the council. City administrator Dean Torreson has asked the IEPA if the loan for 2014 would still be good seeing as the second phase would extend to summer 2015. If approved, the $77,000 for phase one would come from the city’s water fund. The loan would be paid from either the general fund or sales tax fund.
