Macomb’s final “Park N’ Cruise” of the year drove off into the sunset last Friday. The Chamber of Commerce’s monthly festival on the square featured the band “American Pie”, food, and plenty of cars spanning the decades for auto aficionados of all ages to enjoy.
“I’m partial to the Chevys, but there’s a lot of nice cars up here,” said Jerry Buchen, of Cuba, Ill.
The event allows residents of the Macomb community and surrounding areas to bring out their well-oiled machines on display for all to admire.
“We have people from Keokok and Knoxville, and Bushnell, and Carthage, and they come from all over,” said volunteer Amy Jones.
Chester Kingery, the owner of a 1931 Ford Coupe with rumble seats, said he came from Smithfield to show off his car.
More than one decade since this program started, there’s a reason the Park N’ Cruise still draws large crowds.
“You get to hang out with your friends and enjoy the company,” said Jones.
“And meeting all the different people that have the different cars that they show,” said volunteer Marla Deener.
“You can talk to different people. We have a lot of friends that come here,” said Kingery.
