Macomb BOE announces budget cuts, layoffs

After an hour andMacomb BOE 3-18 a half closed meeting, the Macomb Board of Education concluded Monday night’s meeting with a $330,000 budget cut for 2013-2014.

The Board of Education has a multi-year plan to contain costs that will cover 4 years with $1.5 million in cuts over that time.

The $330,000 cut is the first in the four year plan.

Among the parties affected by the reductions are 3 full-time educators that will cut about $250,000. The Board of Education will reduce its travel costs by $5,000 and make a $28,000 cut in the athletic department.

The Board also plans to save money through attrition, when workers resign or retire and are not replaced.
