Go West buses parade to new transit center

Go WestThe fleet of Go West buses made its way to a new home at 701 E. Pierce Street on Sunday.

A line of purple and yellow wound its way through on the route from 121 Center Street to the new Go West Transit Center around 1:20 p.m.

The event had been scheduled for 1 p.m., but the parade’s lead bus and oldest bus, W-15, got stuck just before they parade was supposed to begin, according to Jude Kiah, director of Go West.

The new 80,000 square-feet facility will be able house all 50 Go West buses indoor year round. The total project cost was $13.5 million, all of which was state and federal grants. An official grand opening is set for April 5th.
