A mother in Stark County, Illinois, is facing charges after police say she dumped her 3–week–old daughter on the side of a remote country road.
The Stark County Sheriff’s Office tells NEWS3 that 19–year–old Kendra Meaker has been charged with endangering the life of a child and obstructing justice.
Illinois State Police issued an Amber Alert for Meaker’s daughter last Thursday after Meaker told police her baby was abducted from the back seat of her car while outside a post office in Toulon.
The Amber Alert was called off after volunteer searchers found the baby around 8 p.m. Thursday.
Meaker is currently lodged in the Stark County Jail. Her bond has been set at $100,000.
